Recruiter assessment (OGRA)

What is OGRA?

To ensure a positive experience for all of our customers, we regulate the selection and appointment of OBAS-approved recruiters. To standardise this process, we created the OBAS Group Recruiter Assessment, OGRA for short. The assessment aims to ensure a fair, consistent and thorough process is undertaken to vet each application we receive from educational recruiters or agents – maintaining our high quality and customer experience standards.

To verify an OBAS approved recruiter, use our verification tool.

What does the OGRA assessment include?

  • Identity — General information about the prospective recruiter’s business is used to verify that they are operating legally in whichever territory they are based. This information includes the recruiter’s personal details, proof of identity documents, the company’s name, contact details, registration, company size and address.
  • Professional standing — The OGRA assessment investigates the recruiter’s professional standing with questions relating to criminal activity, including bribery, corruption and human trafficking.
  • Quality — OBAS-approved recruiters are a vital part of our user experience. To maintain our high standards, the OGRA assessment requires two or more references from educational institutions that have recently accepted students from the prospective recruiter.
  • Experience — Proof of a recruiter’s previous experience placing students into overseas educational institutions is a core component of the OGRA assessment. Applying recruiters must provide: their CV and details of student placements within the last two years. They must answer related questions during a virtual interview with one of the OBAS team.

How is the assessment carried out?

After a recruiter has completed and returned the recruiter’s application pack, OBAS Group assessors will begin evaluating the submission against the OGRA standard. If the initial requirements are met, prospective recruiters are invited to a virtual interview. After the interview, successful applicants are invited to join the OBAS Group as an OBAS-approved recruiter.

Who does it apply to?

The OGRA assessment applies to educational recruiters, also commonly known as agents. Companies that employ multiple recruiters are assessed as one entity, providing there are suitable internal mechanisms in place to maintain quality and integrity, granting verified status to the company’s recruitment staff under the company’s name. Schools and other educational institutions are not assessed under this standard.
