School Overview

About Stamford

Stamford High School aspires to develop the individuality of our pupils, giving them the confidence and ambition to strive for higher goals.

Our pupils are enthusiastic about learning in all its facets. Whether in our well-furnished language labs, our beautiful, spacious art rooms, or in our science rooms, the girls learn in an environment designed to further their intellectual, creative, practical and social development. Our School is a caring, friendly and happy place, where pupils thrive because they are supported academically, socially and emotionally. We want our pupils to be enthusiastic, hard-working, determined and ready to get involved with everything we offer. We encourage them to think independently, to take ownership of their learning and to aspire to be the very best they can be. Within a sound framework of pastoral care and development, our girls know that they have the skills and attributes to face the future with confidence.

Scholarships are awarded on entry to Year 7, 9 and 12, although there are later opportunities to gain a scholarship once a child becomes a pupil at the Schools. Pupils who enter the Schools in Years 7 and 8 may apply internally for Art, Drama, Sport and All-rounder Scholarships as these are not available before Year 9. Pupils may sit for all scholarships on moving into the Sixth Form.
